3 Easy, Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas

Thursday, October 27, 2016

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you're like me, you've probably procrastinated on finding a costume. I'm usually pretty good about planning and preparing, but I've been seriously slacking this time around. Heck- I haven't even carved a pumpkin! The parties and festivities are starting up tomorrow and through the weekend, so if you're in a bit of a last minute panic like I am, look no further! Here are three super simple, super easy costumes to throw together with stuff you've probably already got lying around your house.

Where the Wild Things Are

The first costume is inspired by Where the Wild Things Are. This one is so fun and cute, is it weird to be obsessed with your own outfit? I'm wearing a white leotard that I had tucked away in my garage from my old dance days. I paired white tights for both warmth and style, and these white leather boots are my moms from way back when. Your parents closet is actually such a convenient place to shop around if you're looking for something retro. If they don't have anything, check out your local thrift store or just throw on any pair of white shoes! A furry jacket completes the look and you are ready to go. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without Max's crown! Believe it or not, I actually made this out of paper. Google a picture of gold glitter, print it out and cut little triangles out the top, glue the paper into a circle, and secure with bobby pins! Now you're all ready to go get a little wild.

Belle of the Ball

I'm not too sure what to call this look. I guess it could be some sort of princess, prom queen, bridesmaid, socialite, etc. I got this dress from Peppermayo and I absolutely adore it. I keep trying to find excuses for someplace to where it because I love it SO much ((if you need a wedding date or something hmu)). Pair it with any sort of sparkly jewelry, heels, and you're good to go. I placed little rhinestones on my eyes and used extra glittery highlight for this look. The hair piece is actually some silver glitter leaves I got at a craft store, hot glued together, and pinned to my hair. I also got these black and silver roses, as well as an assortment of leaves to arrange a bouquet from a craft store as well. Super easy to get a little crafty with this one.

Locked out of Heaven

The final costume is an angel! Now's the chance to go over the top with glitter and feathers. I actually was an angel last year so I had the halo already from that. I couldn't find the wings, but the fur jacket kind of makes up for that. Find the sparkliest top you've got and throw it on. I glued some rhinestones near my eyes for this look as well, and wore a rhinestone choker for extra bling. I recently cleaned out my closet and found not one, not two, but SEVEN pairs of disco pants. Not sure what sort of identity crisis led me to that but it does make for great costumes. Swap white for red to be a devil, or black for a cat! You can't go wrong with disco pants.
