Mal in Maui (and Honolulu): Hawaii Travel Diary

Saturday, September 2, 2017

September has come around once again and I am so happy to finally be home in my own bed. Autumn in Seattle is the best time of the year- and after this long, hot summer, coming home to a chill in the air is amazing! I'm actually listening to Christmas music as I write this because I'm annoying and apparently seasonly challenged. It feels like I've only been home a few days in August, I stepped off the plane from Arizona and found myself on another flight to Hawaii a few days later.

My family and I go to Hawaii every year because we have extended family there, and god damn it, we deserve a vacation! Waikiki is where we spend our time, but this year we did a little island hopping to Maui for a bit. And I was 21 this year! Hollaaaa!! I'll be back in paradise in December, but here's a little recap of the trip in the form of photos.

We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort in Oahu, and if you read my Hawaii recap from last year, you'll see we stayed here as well then. This was our third year at this hotel and they are amaaazing. Clean rooms, super friendly and accommodating staff (they ALWAYS remember us), it is literally right on the beach and has a pool that you'll never have trouble finding a chair at. It's in the heart of the tourist strip, so we spend a lot of time roaming farmers markets, shoppings, taking hundreds of trips to ABC stores, walking to restaurants, and just exploring the city. When I'm in Waikiki, half of my money goes towards vintage Kona mochas at Island Vintage Coffee. They are the best. Ever. A must stop shop if you are ever in Hawaii! This isn't sponsored but man oh man I wish it was. I took home three bags of coffee mix cause it's so damn good.

Maui is where to go if you are looking for a relaxing vacation. This is resort living. We stayed at the Grand Wailea and it is absolutely beautiful. I checked the location tags and there were a few bloggers and you tubers staying here as well which is pretty cool! There are multiple pools, waterslides, an adult only area, swim up bar, and tons of hidden areas to explore. There was also a private beach which was great to go swim in when we got bored of pools. I am such a laid back person, but resort life even gets old for me so splitting our time 50/50 between the islands was ideal.

Enjoy and see you soon
